Reno Zazpiak Bat 50th Anniversary Basque Festival
This weekend the Zazpiak Bat Basque Club in Reno, Nevada will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Festivities will begin on Friday at the Santa Fe Basque Restaurant where there will be a dinner to honor the club's past presidents. The event will begin with cocktails at 5pm and dinner at 6pm, followed by a dance to the music of Errebal. Saturday morning's events begin at 9am with mass celebrated by Aita Antton Egiguren at Wingfield Park, in the amphitheater. Picnic events, also at Wingfield, will follow mass including dance performances by the Winnemucca Irrintzi and Zazpiak Bat Basque Dancers, Herri Kirolak, Bertsolariak and contests including Txingas, Bota Bag, Irrintzi and Jota. The afternoon will also include a performance by Errebal who will not only provide dance music, but audience participation dancing as well. Throughout the day, there will be lots of good food and drink available, as well as shopping at a variety of local and visiting vendors. It promises to be a great day of family fun. After the picnic wraps up, the fun will move to Louis' Basque Corner for more dancing again to the music of Errebal. For complete information visit their website.
The North American Basque Organizations is very happy to present Errebal to US audiences in Nevada and Wyoming. Their visit was made possible thanks to the generosity of the NV Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities as well as the NV Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. They are a unique group in that they not only provide dance music, but also encourage audience participation dancing as well through instruction by Basque dance masters. If you have an opportunity to see them perform and dance along, don't miss out! Here is a complete listing of all of their performances over the next two weeks. On behalf of NABO we would like to thank both granting agencies for their continued collaboration in our efforts. Mila esker!

Kilometroak and Klikmetroak
We have been contacted by the Txantxiku Ikastola in Oñati, Gipuzkoa regarding the upcoming celebration of Kilometroak. Kilometroak is the annual fundraiser organized by different ikastolas in Gipuzkoa, to raise money to support Basque language instruction. The event takes place around a circuit that includes, food, and entertainment with proceeds going to support ikastolas in that province. This year's organizers, Txantxiku Ikastola, has also organized another event called Klikmetroak. The goal of this project is to get as many clicks as possible to complete a virtual circuit. For every meter marked on the virtual circuit, a real corporate sponsor will make a donation to both Kilometroak and the Ikastola. They are inviting everyone to participate and have even provided a tutorial on how to mark your part of the circuit here. It only takes a couple of minutes and is easy and free. In their words, "despite the distance, we want you to also be part of the festival." For more information, see this letter in English, visit their website, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
